Almar - Almada, Portugal
About the summer of 2017
In the summer of 2017 it was with great enthusiasm and satisfaction that I was part of Almar's construction. I had the opportunity to work again with an incredible team, made up of the Associação Ensaios e Diálogos and longtime friends.
Once again, I was able to develop new technical knowledge in the preparation of large-scale projects. For me, it was a very important milestone because it was the first time I was contacted, on an individual basis, to be part of the construction team for a building of this size.
One of my main goals is to be able to improve my skills as an architect, carpenter and joiner and to develop similar projects, both individually and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
“Almar is the rehabilitation project for the archaeological site of Quinta do Almaraz, in Almada.
Having the Municipality of Almada as promoter, the project associates the construction of the new infrastructures with the activation of the space of the old agricultural site, opening it to the community through guided visits, artistic residences, workshops, talks and round tables.
The archaeological new building has a reception area with a ticket office, workspaces for archaeologists and scientists, exhibition and interpretive area for visitors and sanitary facilities.”
